Pre-Course Instructions and Entry Requirements Delegates must successfully complete SARA Operative or an equivalent recognised qualification prior to commencing this module. This module is designed as an enhancement to SARA Operative. All officers must be able to certify that they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them working at height. Officers must be 18 years or over
Overview The course is designed to provide:
The ability to select Rope Access for appropriate situations.
The knowledge to identify how other access methods can be used in relation to Rope Access and how to select the most appropriate technique.
The knowledge required to maintain a Search Team SARA Capability.
The knowledge required to operate a SARA Team in an operational environment.
The skills required to supervise and perform rescues in areas/situations where Search Teams are most commonly tasked to operate.
Officers will be able to supervise the inspection, care and maintenance of all the associated equipment required for the techniques.

Summary of Key Elements

The use of rope access equipment for search purposes in accordance with the SpanSet SARA Supervisor syllabus. Introduction to SARA Supervisor responsibilities. Conducting Rope access systems risk assessments and method statements. Rescue from ascent.  Rescue through deviations.  Rescue through rope to rope. Complex rigging scenarios.  Creating hauling systems 3:1, 6:1, 9:1.  Cross hauling.  Rigging tension lines for use with stretchers.
